| A cat is a mammal and capable of higher emotions . . . as much as I love them, scorps are still bugs, and their brain is nothing more than a couple of nerve bundles.
It would be really cool though, if our scorps were capable of affection. | |

| Sure you can have 19! I've got six emperors and nine Asian forests, and a total of 33 scorpions. | |

| but 19 of the same, I couldnt have them all in the same tank.
He seems very smitten with them! on Monday they had two crickets and Tuesday he put in 4 crickets! He is worried they will eat each other as I mentioned feeding to be kept up, so as ive been away he's been really protective...but its kinda borderline over feeding now! He not feeding them tonight and tomorrow I will be home and more food will be offered, every other day! It seems all 18 have had something to eat...so hopefully not as risk to someone munching on someone else any time soon....I hope!
they even have pooped! hahaha at least I know someone can poop! just need to find out if the ones without stingers can poop. Im just trying not to worry as I know I cant change anything for them

| Cannibalism is pretty rare among these guys, so you don't need to worry too much. I had one incidence of it with five juvenile emps in a 5-gallon tank, but that was it. | |

| Awww . . . cute little things, aren't they? Mold is pretty easy to spot-clean if you have the right substrate. You pull on the clump with tweezers and the whole mycellium comes out with it. | |

| Thats what I did the other day. Take it I should just spot clean the mold any time I see any? I have lifted the lid this morning and let some mroe air get in. Later we will poke MORE air holes in! But babies are doing fine, I just want some attacking prey pictures! They are so cute when they are all stingstingstingy! xxxxx | |

| Babies are very "sting first, as questions later." Spot cleaning when you see mold is a good way to take care of it. | |

| It wierd because I just read a whole article on the question of eye demage from flash photography. Everything pointed to no long term damage and minimal to possibly none for short term. They made the point that if it harmed your scorpion then it would react as we do to someone flashing our eyes. Hope this helps. Here is a link to some discussion on the topic in relation to Ts.

| I read some where that they put tissue paper over the flash to eviate the sharp light. If you don't wont to use the flash maybe you can try that. | |

| Connie, take a deep breath and relax. They were probably running away from the sudden movement, because baby scorpions are so skittish. I've taken hundreds of photos of my scorpions with a flash (some even with an extra-fancy flash mounted right on the lens), and most of them just sort of hang out, completely ignoring it. If it bothered them then they'd all run away. Just remember that babies are more skittish in general and were running for cover because they perceive anything that moves as a big scary predator. All your scorpions are still fine. | |

| Another way to look at it -- humans have fairly sensitive eyes. If flash was really that harmful, any celebrity that had ever encountered a paparazzi would be completely blind. | |

| The one who got all crazy-stingy sounds like he was trying to sting the percieved "big scary predator" that wasn't really there. Babies will try to sting just about anything. They won't be able to push the lid up when they're that small -- adults sometimes can, though, if they can reach the lid when their metasoma is extended. | |
