| CB '11, don't know which month she hatched. Got her in late October at just 102 grams. Around 230 gr and 65 cm at the moment. | |

| She "doubled" her size in your care.. considering the time span it's fast isn't it? Btw... my ball python recently tried to strike me twice.. I guess he's pretty excited when his food is already nearby but yet i'm busy configuring my DSLR infront of him.. oh well.. per week feeding does not seem to be enough i guess.. Oh, one more thing.. where's the update Jay has promised? *Yawns.. while waiting.. Comon Jay.. bring some life back! | |

| Yep, weight and girth doubled. Haven't checked her length too much, but she's probably grown about 10-15cm. Have you checked how heavy feeders is yours getting in relation to his body weight? A good general rule is usually 10-15%. Mine's been pretty picky about feed lately, it requires a 5-10 minute "playing" with the rat in front of her until she strikes it. Could be the scent of the rat doesn't trigger her appetite as well as the mice I was feeding her before. But I'm happy she's taking them, I've heard some BPs will refuse a different rodent than what they're used to. - GS wrote:

| They may refuse it because it does t smell the same but you can always rub a mouse on the rat to getthe smell and then feed it, I did that with one of mine | |

I'm on the case of the update though, she's getting huge! Sweet series of shots GS and there's some really nice shots of her on your site. Dolby have you tried heating the rat with say a hairdryer or heat lamp, mainly on the head, can bring a stronger feeding response.

| Great shots GS! Great timing for #7.
Dolby have you tried heating the rat with say a hairdryer or heat lamp, mainly on the head, can bring a stronger feeding response.
Yep, I don't even bother to offer an unheated feeder, it's just not worth the effort I always keep in a heatpad for 10-15 mins and let it get nice and warm all around. She's feeding perfectly again. It took her 4-5 rats to get used to them, but she never refused them, it just demanded a bit more "playing" with them. Now she's feeding like crazy. I guess my feeders are getting undersized again. She just stays out of her hide ALL the time, waiting for food And lately she's showing the most "agressive" feeding response ever. Will try to take a vid after then weekend.

| Good to hear she's doing well mate! Good to see you got her off the mice and onto rats.
Mine has been the same lately, I feed her and 10 mins later she is back out looking up waiting for another! Last couple of feedings she's had 2 rats in a row, it's fine to do. I haven't even had to heat them up lately, I just defrost them and she take 'em fine.
Looking forward to the vid!

| i have a male spider, he loves to eat, i feed him fresh killed. but if i have to ill feed him frozen thawed he will eat anything. when i do i heat them up with a ceramic heat lamp to make them warm. i use to use warm water for pinky mice when i had my milk snake. the only snake that i have that can be fussy are the pastel ball python male and female. but the woma, caramel albino and het axthantic and blood python eat like a charm! | |
