Sweat can be Yummy....& its awesome when youve got a cpl fans on ya.
The thing is one cant run errands naked....
Well...I suppose one could...but....
So ya end up running frm your air conditioned house to your air conditioned car into the air conditioned store BACK to the air conditioned car etc,etc...you cant enjoy the outdoors until the sun goes down, unless youre around the pool.or its Monsoon season.
Forget hittin the playground....Bleh.

its cool i just need one or two,i dunno what i would do with an arsenal of mini boards. thanks though.
69 nailed it with the ac and pool talk.its true thats how it is.
my ac keeps the house between 77 78degrees f.but my room where all the animals are it stays 79-85 in the summer.my snake needs the basking spot(ectothermic) but i dont believe my scorpions actually enjoy the heat otherwise they wouldnt try to hide from it.

hahaha definately sweaty business if your not in an air conditioned room.car romps, forget it.
back to the relevant topics,heheh.

i was told not to feed the momma scorp til the babies are off her back and feed her fast or she might eat some of the young.should i not offer food?

Been gone for a few days... You should be able to find flightless fruit flies at petsmart, or you can order cultures for them from the interweb.

As for feeding mom, you can try to offer her a head crushed cricket, just be sure you don't jostle the tank, or try to force her to eat. Less stress = good. If you are really worried about it, then try. If not then don't.

hmmm if you can find em at petsmart thats easy.i hate ordering anything off the web if i dont have to.

ill try to offer her something in a week or so.
what size crickets should adult barks have?
are barks "active"?
will i see em alot or will they hide all they time like emps.the mom right now seems to hide throughout the day and a portion of the night is found wandering the tank.im sure when theres like 32 running around this 5.5gl theres gonna be some hanging out in plain view.

i added some stuff to the tank.get pics up soon.

scorpions when hungry take the same size prey as they are, so my guess is you cant go big enough on the crick department Shiny. Better is to feed them things a bit smaller than themselves.

I cannot say what they are like because I never had them so no hands on experience. Sorry

no prob.theyre free for me so why should i charge?

cricket box?hahaha ill just buy some crickets specifically for them and drop em in there and have another cricket box on hand for the emps.
since they are wild caught i could catch some crickets from the cricket colony in my backyard for em as well.i know for sure there isnt pesticides at my house.

yeah i cant wait for the community!!! now i dont have to worry about the emps turning on the red light.that would still be cool though.

The barks I have are crazy active...H.arizonesis seem to be a bit mellower than the C.sculpts, but the Sculpts are by far the most skittish...be sure to have places for C.Sculpt to hang out upside down...They are just oriented that way (Negative GeoTaxis) & it freaks them out if they dont have that.I have a few that I swear havent touched the ground in the cpl months Ive had them.Ive even seen them hunt hanging upside down.
Not sure if you have them where your at,but we have those brown roaches (blech) that are thin & long?
I throw them in the tank & the scorps love them.
They throw em over their backs & carry them like trophies...I'll figure out what theyre called today.
The big black roaches (blech) they seem to have a hard time with...maybe theyre too thick shelled?
The big black fire ants are a huge no-no...unless you want a dead scorp.Took me 3x to confirm, but its true....
Youd think those gold flying beatles would be a hit,but again with the thick exoskeleton...theyll get eaten but only after the good stuff is gone...
Crickets STINK! literally...they reek.
The fiestiest Scorpion I have is the Striped Tails...
Flippin Schizoids...
Sorry about the long post,I forgot what kind of Bark she was...
Im gonna go find some blurry pics to post of my huge prego scorpion now...lol

Yeah Shining. In my experience with them, they are pretty active and hunt readily. I used to dump 2-3 small crickets per scorp every week for my little community. In a pinch I'd feed large crickets to them, but unless they were pretty hungry they would mostly run away from them.

Ughh...Im beginning to really dislike crickets... I fed my scorps 30 crickets last wk,completely redid the entire tank the next day, substrate & everything..the smell was that disgusting...
Almost worse than a corpse, seriously. Why cant I just toss in a hamburger every now & then?

In the almost 3 yrs Ive been here I have yet to see a Grasshopper...maybe the Scorpions already ate them all...
How do the mamas feed the babies in the wild?
Youd think she'd hunt for them...or dont they need to eat while still on her back?

well locust are on the menu as well as beetles, ants.. Pretty much everything that you see crawling down there, under slates, in weeds...

If it is smaller than the scorp or same size its a goner.. scorpions feed on each other too I believe.
