| Hey picking up my first flat rock scorpion tomorrow! Pretty excited but I was wondering what I should know before I get the little guy? I know they like it fairly dry and love rocks to hide in? I also know that they are pretty nice and docile but dont hesitate to pinch? Is there anything else I should know? Thanks! | |

| When i would keep them I would spray just a little tiny bit of water on one corner of a ten gallon enclosure, sometimes i'd even see them drink. But i would only do this about once a month. Other than that they were kept really dry. | |

| Thanks Abyss ill probably do that. I am getting one as a baby though so is the dryness the same? or is there more water needed to support molting? growth? | |

| For a baby you can mist a very small corner once every 2 weeks. Other than that you can keep them the same as any other desert species as Yames mentioned. | |

| i got my first flat rock scorp last week and i can tell that it doesnt like humidity too much. stay on the dry side and just put hiding spots.
one thing i've noticed about them is that they're quite reactive to vibrations near their enclosure so keep them far away from sound-producing gadgets/appliances.
they also eat sparingly like some scorpion i know (i.e. r. junceus) LOL

| Thanks Shadowfoot I am pretty familiar with desert species and what they need so this should be easy.
Thanks for the input Exoticvirus as far as vibrations go he had to endure a 1 and a half hour car ride haha but that will be about the worst he ever deals with again. I have a few rocks in the little deli cup he is in so he can squeeze his body in there.
What is everyone's opinion on feeding tonight? I just got him today. Should I wait or not?
Also posting pictures soon as well.

| Here's the caresheet: [ASA] Hadogenes paucidens (It applies to all Hadogenes species.) Wait a few days before trying to feed it, let it settle in first.

| Thanks scorpion! Is this the same for a Hadogenes troglodytes? I believe that is the one I got today at least the person confirmed it to be a troglodytes. | |

LOL be patient with the growth rate on this species. They're know for their slow metabolism and growth. But long lives.

| +1 to Abyss In Scorpions of Southern Africa by Jonathan Leeming it says they can take 8-10 years to reach maturity. Everything will be worth it when it reaches its massive size of 21cm. | |
