Jesus, and I thought I was obsessed, I wonder what you'd do if there was no law against buthids.

I think Bex wins the award for Biggest Scorpion Collection Explosion Smile
I can see you put in a lot of care maintaining your scorpions and their enclosures, so well done on that. I also didn't realize you had a Heterometrus Mysorensis, those guys look very cool. Hopefully it makes it to adulthood because I'd like to see it when it does. By the way, I can't wait to get my own exo terra terrariums, they are sweet!

Ahh, a lovely tidy thread.

And merciful Zeus Bex, I could only dream of having a collection that big. That Swammerdami looks monstrous, and I'm loving the house brick as an ornament haha. Epic improv.

I've got to ask though. What on earth is that red stuff in the S. Maurus' dish?

Lol thanx!! Billy no mates I pinched your spoiler idea much better than a big mess of photos and realised I'd never posted a full collection one.
The red stuff is aquarium gravel, our next plan is a emp or spinifer colony, as we are struggling to get a mate for our female emp there are no adult emps about for some reason Sad

Nice one, nice to see all your collection together, It's definitely exploded! I remember when you first came on with your first emp. You've come a long way.

I agree Billy No Mates about the spoiler tags makes a really tidy thread, I think I'll follow suit and make one for my collection soon haven't posted them all in one place either.

Seen Haddy yet?

No not seen her Sad I'm sure she's dead lol am getting more and more tempted to fig her up but the substrate is quite hard and not sure how to go about it without it all collapsing as we have quite a large ornament in there which would need to come out too, I've seen quite a few lately which keeps there's on loose sand, is that an ok way to keep them, thought they was meant to be able to burrow, also the ones kept on loose sand seem to be out and feeding quite often not sure if that's a good thing or not though Smile

I done exactly the same, waited over a month and decided to dig her out. This was with 100% ex clay aswell! I went slow with a spoon and it took ages. She was sat in her burrow fine and I wished I'd left her.

She was getting re-homed anyway but I'd say leave her for now. I'd put money she's sat in her burrow fine. If she weren't happy they'll usually let you know, a hidden scorp is a happy scorp as long as conditions are correct.

Has she closed it off? Mine open and closes her burrow like the wind at the moment. Your's could be coming out really late at night/early hours.

I think they'd rather be able to have the choice to burrow myself, they obviously enjoy it alot as they spend so much time in them. Give it a year aswell and the tank will be a maze of tunnels.

DOH @ spoilers...I wish I would have thought of that, LOL.

Very nice assortment of pics. Looks like there are a couple of gravid ones, although I am horrible at telling. It's good to know that I'm not the only one with a scorpion addiction problem Very Happy

Hahaha we just dug the desert hairy ip an it's fine... But looks huge and has only eaten once last november!!! Hmmm will post some pic in a min, how big are adults coz she looks to small for adult to me which means she's gonna molt, or if she is adult I would say she's gravid.... That's if she is a she lol Smile at least it's alive have wrecked the set up though Sad gonna leave it flat with a hide for a while as it's a major job to re design it with the huge ornament in it, means making it all wet again and waiting for it to dry and haven't really got a suitable temp tank for it atm.... Pics to follow....

Haha, and there's me thinking it was fruit.

And ditto, I've been trying to find an adult female for Bruce, but no such luck. The juvi I've got I'm assuming is female, as the pectines look very unlike Bruce's, but I won't really know for sure until it matures. I'm hoping it is though, then I can make a start on my own colony. I'm hoping to start a few other colonies aswell. I just need some bigger tanks.

And good to hear the Haddy is still alive and kicking, mine's been hiding away for a bit now but I'm not too bothered.

Haha least it worked out in the end, it is a lovely species. Yeah adult emps are alot rarer now that they're not allowed to be taken from the wild.

I guess most often we'll always fall under the desire of wanting something we can't (legally) have.
Plus, there's something about scorpion keeping that i have never encountered before in my lifetime...
