| So with desert species it would be not enough heat, moisture, food?
And with rain forest species it would be too dry, not enough food or heat?

| Something like that.. desert species can sometimes ( depending on species allso ) be more tricky then forest ones. Take Hadrurus sp they burrow and the scorplings can choose the perfect condition for when they have to molt, if they want it more moist they go lower, warmer and dryer they just go abit higher in the burrow, this can be very tricky to reproduce in your tank at home. | |

| it depends really on if the scorpion is READY to moult. You cant force these things, its normally a waiting game | |

| Another thing that would cause them to not molt is being mature . . . adult scorpions, unlike the vast majority* of arthropods, do not molt upon reaching maturity.
*About the only other arthropods that don't molt after maturing are winged insects** and pseudoscorpions -- possibly others, but I can't recall them at the moment.
**except for mayflies (order Ephemeroptera)

I've noticed that with my LQs. They seem to wait SO long after becoming fat to molt! All I want is to see the finished product
