Pus / death question

So I have a new question for you...

My Dad has had 3 emperor scorpions and, sadly, they've all died.

Just before each of them died, the last one or two joints in their tails (just before the stingers) have had white dried pus-looking stuff in/around them.

We're pretty confident that it isn't feces. And as soon as it showed up, each scorpion died within a couple of weeks.

We've asked a few different pet stores including someone with the New England Reptile Distributors (NERD).

Any help would be fantastic. We just want to know what killed our bugs.

p.s. they were kept in good conditions, yes, before you ask.

I'm going to assume that since this was originally posted as a reply to the emperor FAQ that you know what good conditions are.

That being the case, do you have any photos? Because it still sounds like scorpion feces to me. Especially considering it was near the anus.

As most bugs wind down in their life cycle, they become less coordinated (in my experience) and generally slow down. It's possible, if this was the case, that they didn't take the same care in "wiping" themselves and that's why you noticed it. I remember that when my female emperor died she had some feces on her metasoma.

sounds like poo to me, mabye it had something to do with an impaction? were there any other abnormalities on the scorp's body?
