| So as of today, my male emperor scorpion has died, I'm not as I think I should be, but that's probably because I was expecting it for a while. What I don't understand is why he died. I have a female in the same tank, and she's fine. I'm uploading some pictures of my enclosure in order to figure out why he died, so I might fix the problem and possibly get a new emp to replace him. Here is a view of my tank from the front, it's a 20 gallon long tank the plant's I use are fake plants. I keep the temperature at around 80 degrees with the humidity at 85% ish. I have a heating mat on the right side of the tank and I use a heat lamp when the heating pad is not enough. Here are the two hiding spots I provided, the one on the left is a real rock, the one on the left is a fake one i bought at a pet store. I understand that these fake logs tends to be kind of high so I dug it in a little, but the real rock offers an alternative hiding place. Here is a top view of my tank , there's a huge plant on the left and a small one on the right, I keep the entire tank out of direct sunlight and use coconut fiber as my substrate. Now there are a few worries I have about my setup. The plants offer a cheap decoration, HOWEVER, the crickets spend almost their entire time up there which gives the emps a hard time hunting them, I have seen my female eat some, but I think it's a little harder to hunt. If I have to doaway with the plants then that is fine with me. Secondly, the emps don't spend ANY time in the 2 hiding place, the first few days they bunched up together in the log, but after a while they just refuse to go in either of them. They usually hide under the big plant or in the open and I'm kind of worried about that. If you need me to take anymore pics I can do that, and once again, any and all help will be greatly appreciated | |

| How was he acting before he died? Was he an adult? A lot of times people buy adult scorpions at the store and don't realize that they may be many years old already. | |

| He was definently not an adult, he was not big in size at all, but not small either, I'm guessing about 2-3 years or so, He was acting really really sluggish and slow reacting before he died. I thought he was building up for a molt since he was also getting just a little bit fatter, but after he didn't move for a whole week, as in not move anything not even tail change, I was pretty sure he's dead. | |

| They never interact with each other, he's just generally lazy and moved slower and slower till he died. | |

| Your setup looks great and the humidity and temp are fine too. We aren't at the level to pinpoint scorpions deaths right now either, so I would consider it to be an unfortunate scorpion. Sorry for your loss and I doubt it was your care that killed it. | |
