Very Sad News

I just found out that my Pandinus imperator Shredder has died. I don't want to talk about it at the moment, but I'll try to answer tomorrow if I feel able to. I buried him and would like to know how to deal with this. I have had things die, but this was was my first scorpion, and I had him since last September. This is the last photo I have of him. I did not take any of him after his death. May his soul rest in peace.

I recently also lost a scorpion as you might have seen, and I find it important to grieve in your own way. Let it out, and honor it how you feel best.

I feel it got better after a while.

I remember losing my first scorpion too, it is a sad moment. Sorry for your loss. In time when your collection grows it becomes a little easier to handle a death sometimes it’s not your fault. In my situation I lost two scorps due to cannibalism and 4 due to ant attack.

@Bayss: It's the hard part of having any pet, and I found it out the hard way sadly.

@Shakudo: I cried for a solid hour, and broke an LED flashlight. It worked though.

@Abyss: Death with animals I love has never come easy, even if it's just a crab on a TV show. It may get easier, but I don't think I'll ever be able to shrug it off. Sorry about yours though. I hate ants with a passion.

I know how you feel truly. I have many animals not including the scorpions in my home. But after being with them for so long, my attachments only grow stronger. But so has my ability to accept the fact that everything must die.

I have a heavily gravid emperor at the moment, and I was going to donate the babies to Kelly Swift. I'd like to send one to you in Illinois so that you may enjoy watching it grow to adulthood, and experience it for much longer than just buying an adult at your pet store. Shipping/packing free of charge. My treat. What do you say?

My condolences to you man. I know the feeling as well... I had two Emps, had them quite for sometime too. A male and female and they always were together in their enclosure, nowhere one would go the other was right next to each other. I always thought it was strange because of their bahavior. Never seen it in scorpions before and they finally bred and out popped many little ones about ten months later but after they reached 2 instar and left their mother's back. She suddenly fell ill and past away. My male lived for another month and he also past away too. Never once did he try to bother the babies. They had a favorite hide they dug out under a piece of wood and the female would stay in the back with the babies and the male would stay near the entrance as if he was guarding. Because of how they were, I grew in love with scorpions. I sure do miss my emps as they were my first ones and how that seem to have a bond with each other...

But I'm guessing a couple of months, which would be perfect timing because we'll both be out of school.
