| As some of you will know we had a pair of c.celebensis that we hoped to mate....well these have been living together for a while now without really being checked on other than a quick spray and cricket chucked in.....
well last night we got the tank down and to our surprise found both adults to be eaten with only 3 claws remaining....however on closer inspection there are a loads of tiny babies running around everywhere...how cool...but sad....dont really know what happened .................... | |

| I had a similar experience with a gravid L. australasiae some years ago...Mother no where to be seen and a rake of young taking her place..At the time i put it down to that she had died of old age and had simply decomposed (a small dead animal doesn't last long in a warm humid environment) although in my case there was absolutely no remains of the mother at all...it was if she had escaped (even though that was an impossibility)... Incidently, the Chela would also be the last to disappear (as in your case) in such a scenario considering their more massive construction in regards to the rest of a scorpions body.
Have you had a good look at the substrate with a magnifying glass..there could potentially be a wealth of microbes and other fauna there that would make short work of a dead scorpion.....and what about the occasional crickets you threw in....were they still there or had they disappeared the same as your adult scorps?

| There are really small !! lolz I've raise scorplings of 3mm size before, sometimes, you are just not sure if they are there(in the deli-cups).. haha But once they grow and mature as adults.. you'll get a sense of satisfaction that none can replace. Congrats again.. sooooOOooo cute! haha Meantime, you can use a magnifying glass to view their true beauty | |
