| D: My Edvin died yesterday morning.
I guess I saw it coming. He'd been a bit lethargic and droopy for a couple of days. I had hope, because when disturbed he would pick up his tail and move away... but as soon as he stopped moving again, he let his tail fall flat. Went into my room yesterday to find him laying sprawled out on his side.
I think I'm going to just put him in a jar of alcohol.
Might as well get another tropics scorpion, since I have all the stuff. Just don't know what kind yet.

| Sorry for your loss isnt it normal for scorpions not to have their tails up all the time? my DH and cavi are down but curved to the side a lot especially when inside his cave. Or was it straight flat back? How can you tell if a scorpion is lethargic? they arent constantly moving around and when they do, they arent always in a hurry to move around lol Sorry for the questions prolly the last things you want. | |

| He was an emperor scorpion. =)
And, yes, I meant his tail was flat out. And I could tell he was lethargic, because he always got all riled up and pissy when I misted his tank, but recently he didn't seem to care...

| Sorry to hear that we recently lost one of ours to a bad moly poor little guy, and was actually quite sad when our first ever scorpion died, he was an emp and dies from old age that's the problem you get when buying adults you never know how old they are, I would get another emp ( or 4 lol) get a load of juvi's and have a communal setup that's our plan now as we can't get hold of an adult male emp for our female | |

| That sucks though, it does.
My first scorpion to ever die was an A. Austrlais and it was DOA. Then I got a Death Stalker which had mycosis when I had originally gotten her from a store. Those are my only two losses ever, and it sucked both times.

Yes and the worst part about it is it was my first scorpion. It was labeled wrong, as a dune scorpion. I found out once I started getting into scorpions.

This is my worry with a lot of pet stores selling scorpions. Eight times out of ten you've got nothing to worry about but because most don't specialize in inverts, they often mistake one species for another. My AFS was sold to me as a Red Claw. Obviously this was before I started properly getting to know scorpions.
