| So I went through a few posts n found out tat there r some difference between the emperor n AFS
N I'm starting 2 suspect tat my scorpion isn't an emp
It has smooth pedipalps n very few granulation on the carapace ( correct me if I'm wrong )
Its pedipalps seem 2 b reddish when the flash is on
I was thinking it might b a Heterometrus Spinifer
The pet shop tat it came from just labled it as Scorpion
btw I'm from Malaysia so probably an AFS is more easier 2 get than an emp (?)
Here are the pics ( if it doesn't show right click n open in new tab )

| By the chelae, being that they are relatively smooth, I could almost guarantee that is Heterometrus. Does not look like longimanus, and spinifer is the most common in the trade. So unless one of the pros chimes in differently, I would say that this is most likely a Heterometrus spinifer. | |

| It looks to be a Heterometrus spinifer. It's chela and pedipalps don't look elongated enough for it to be H. longimanus. It has granulation on the carapace, so it's not H. laoticus. The telson is dark red, not black, and the pedipalp has a pronounced internal tubercle on the patella. (So, H. petersii is eliminated.) | |
