| I bought a scorpion a few weeks ago, and that the seller doesn't know what it is, but I ID'ed it as a Hottentotta Hottentotta, as well as a few friends who are in the hobby. Just wanted to be sure so that I wouldn't have any doubt in my mind that it is a HH. | |

| It is Hottentotta hottentotta. Is it an adult? They reproduce like popcorn machines | |

| I got nothing from the seller regarding any info. LOL. But I bet it is an adult, and I even think that it is gravid What do you think? | |

| I would say it could be in an early stage of "gravidness", or just well fed. You should be able to see embryos through the pleural membrane before it's time to pop. Great informative pic by GS can be seen here | |

| If there was a like button for the pics you just linked me to, I'd click it. Thank you for the very informative pics. Will check my HH, for its "gravidness" some other time as she is hiding in her little cave.
Just so you know, someone messaged me (not here) of the possibility of it being a buthus occitanus but of a "darker" morph, that's why I want to be sure. Any thoughts or comments regarding this would be highly appreciated.

Did that someone even showed you a picture of "a darker morph buthus occitanus" which look somewhat like the scorpion you posted above? It is definitely Hottentotta hottentotta. - DolbyR wrote:

| Oh well, he didn't give me a picture of this darker morphed b.occitanus to compare it with. Nevermind, I'm quite satisfied with the number of people who told me that it is indeed a HH. Thanks for the confirmation! | |

| Can someone please explain the characteristics used to definitely identify this as Hottentotta hottentotta? I'm not experienced with this species and am keen to learn...
Thanks | |
