| A mate has just asked me if I know what this is. His neighbour "apparently" went to Mexico on holiday and this scorpion was in his sock when he unpacked. Personally I'm taking this with a pinch of salt. The name he has got for it is "Mexican Red Claw" but TBH I think that's just made up. Anyway, she dropped babies and he has given her/ them to Graham. They said they've had a look through scorpion files and think its a Tityus obscurus. Doesnt this come from Brazil though? Shes about 2" body. I can ask him for more pics if they'll help. So, any ideas? Oh, and care tips? | |

| Centruroides nigrescens, very cool to have them locally! Keep them around 30 degrees celsius, wetten their substrate sand/coco once a week. Very very cool scorpion! Exactly my taste. | |

| Np dude, I'm pretty sure yes since they are from Mexico and the tail is not really Tityus stuff.
-males attain 10 cm of length -females 8cm of length -scorplings are black with orange highlights and appendages -they do not need an overly humid environment -males tailsegments are noticably stretched, and this is the way of sexing them -gestation period is between 5-7 months with an average brood of 40 -they mature at instar 7, males at instar 6 -keeping scorplings together is not advised as these readily attack each other (this is theoretical and I have good experience keeping solitary species together) -there is not much known bout their venom. It is assumed they are quite venomous.

| ok mate, cheers for that, All info passed on. I wish I lived in a different part of the world.lol Might move to Southern Ireland. No DWA needed there, good sea fishing and still close enough to here that I could still moan about the weather. | |

| Ye I think they are not far from Tityus... But to be honest, if they are as calm as tityus, then they are harmless. I mean, if you dont squeeze them with your finger they will not attack. | |
