| Sooc my girlfriend's friend needed someone to take an adult female emp (she gave birth not too long ago,,,and ate her young) , her friend brought it to work, and it stayed in a small, plastic critter container for the whole day. she said it was pretty active all day but now since i added her into the tank ( the emp not the girlfriend haha) she seems VERY unresponsive and sluggish. I guess my question is, is that normal? she was active and healthy, now...not so much. | |

| emps usually investigate their new surroundings.if it was in a small critter cage with nowhere to hide,in bright lights, and people moving around it of course it will seem active and responsive.its pissed off and is trying to find a way the hell out of that prison with annoying humans pestering it.
a happy emp is a hiding emp.some or most are just lazy and you gotta remember they are nocturnal.. maybe you should be more specific on "VERY unresponsive and sluggish"..is it not responding to you talking to it,tapping on the glass,or poking it like a dead body and a stick? sluggish as in looks like its moving in slow motion alllllll the time? what are the temps in the tank?

| She has only been in my tank, (which also is inhabited by a younger male) and out of the "critter carrier" for about 7 hours, my resident male is happy and burrows and eats regularly, she practically hasnt moved at all since being introduced to her new enclosure. the temp is almost consistantly 78 and the male has been very happy for months now.....im wondering it she is just shocked by the move and the long day in a small box | |

| i just re-read your initial response,, and yeah, she was in a little carrier all day and my girlfriend got it from her friend at work in the morning and im sure every person in the building looked at it and stressed it the hell out> plus,,i dont think it had proper ventilation for a while. when i introduced her to the big tank, she took a few steps, and then just settled, and has been in the same, non-hide area for the last 8 hours

| i would think its damn exhausted from all the unstable conditions going on around it. id at least heat a side of the tank up with a heat lamp to about 90f.my emps tank is around 77-78f on the cooler side but 88-90 in the warm side and they spend most of their time near the warmth. id just keep an eye on that emp and let it rest.i do find it odd that its just sitting there hopefully after a day itll start moving about. | |

| could be old and very stressed from the birth plus being moved around, scorps can shut down for days looking like they are dead only to suddenly come back to life when your about to get rid of them lol, if you have another container it may be best to seperate from the other one incase it desides to have a go, seeing as she sounds quite week she wouldnt really do well in a fight
make sure she has water and try tong feeding

| Thanks for all the comments guys ! I did all your suggestions but unfortunately, she didnt make it through the night I think the critter carrier the guy had it in all day at work didnt have enough ventilation. Any suggestions on how to preserve her in lacquer or something??? Anyway, off to the pet store to get another These things are like Lay's potato chips! cant have just one! | |
