Mold on wall of hide Empty
PostSubject: Mold on wall of hide   Mold on wall of hide Empty5/30/2011, 10:04 am

I noticed this morning that mold is starting to grow on the inner surface of my emps' wood hide.
I've increased the ventilation on this side of the tank, but I'm wondering if I should also replace the
hide with a terra cotta one. This is the hide my emp has chosen to reside in and I don't want to
stress it unnecessarily. Any advice?

That already is a rather nasty fungus. I'd replace it with a terracotta lookalike. The fungus is not really alarming for your scorpion, but its better without.

Only my guess

Pluto is right, it won't hurt your scorpion, but that is quite a bit of mold. If it were me, I would be changing it even though it won't hurt them. I'm a bit OCD about stuff like that.

I had the same thing happen to me. I replaced it with a plastic cave, and added a terracotta when I got my second Emp. Haven't had any mold problems since.

Yeah, don't use the wooden ones. I have a coconut look alike. Had it for almost 7 months now.

Here's the new hide. I also added some fake aquarium plants I had on hand to add some variety to
the enclosure. They look a lot better in a fish tank. The glare is the flash bouncing off the white
styrene I have on the back of the tank. I still need to get it painted.

I only needed a couple handful of the moss, but they don't seem to sell it in small quantities.
The bag I bought is enough to outfit a dozen enclosures.

It seems to me like a lot of people are either for or against the moss. I like it though, nice enclosure too.
