| hi all,
I just brought mine home today, my first one. after being put in it's enclosure, which I hope it finds acceptable, it did eat 2 crickets and cruise around, so things looked comfy. but for the last few hours at least, non-stop, it's been trying to climb the same part of the wall, legs moving for much of the time. Is this normal? Since I'm a noob, I can't help but get the feeling he's not happy and wants out really bad lol. Please let me know!
I have done extensive research on the enclosure, so it's moist, i mist it, the basics are there. he only has 1 hiding spot right now since i just set it up tonite, but i am going to the store in the morning for the rest of the accessories.
Thank you!! | |

| Welcome to the forum! I'm assuming it's an emperor? That behaviour is completely normal - a lot of scorps do this. They are simply exploring their surroundings. You said that you mist his enclosure.. I'd suggest that instead of misting it (as it is relatively ineffective at increasing humidity and won't last very long - you have to do it daily) you pour some water onto the substrate so that it is damp but not soaking. That should give you perfect humidity at around 80%-90% and should last for a week or two before you repeat the process. Again, this is assuming you have an emperor and are using coco fibre substrate or similar. | |

| Nice looking emp. My emps climb up the side of the critter keeper and walk/hangout upside down on the cover. I thought the same as you about them not being happy with their habitat. | |

| Don't know how old that pic is, but the substrate looks way too dry. | |

I agree with you regarding the substrate too dry maybe because of the heat pad that he installed it should be placed not on the whole part of the enclosure but on one place only so that your emperor scorpion will have an option to move from one place or another if it gets too hot or too cold | |
