| MY buddy just told me today he can finally get me the Leiurus jordanensis's I've been asking for . I've only seen pictures of them but I hear they're just like L. quinquestriatus just black . Anybody ever seen one up close ? or know anything else about them ? | |

| If your buddy can get you those, I must see pictures. I've been in the hobby for some time now and I've never ever seen these made available, probably due to their limited distribution. It would be pretty awesome to see them become established in the hobby. | |

| My buddie said he only knows 2 guys in the states with these, but he is positive one of them bred enough to part with a few. I told him to get me atleast 1 adult male and 1 adult female. I'll buy as many as I can, but there probably pretty expensive. Will definitely keep updating, and when I get them will definitely post pic's.
: Street if I can breed them I'll definitely send a few your way.

| My buddy says he's 95 % sure his guy will part with some. He's supposedly been breeding them for a few years now so fingers crossed. He's come through for me with everything else i've asked him to get. | |

| Exactly and that already for a few years. But I'll take every word back and bow at you if you get some It is not that I don't believe YOU. But there would be people around knowing he has some. Certainly if he is breeding them for years. Well I hope for you you get some. You would have a very rare scorpion right there! Good luck | |

You would have a very rare scorpion right there! Good luck Also due to the fact that the Leiurus genus are known for having large broods, breeding them for years means he has hundreds of deli cups and is distributing them in secret or he's lying to you. I too hope you can get your hands on some and I want to see pictures when you do.

| Not to be a (BLEEP) PLUTO. But I have no reason to believe he is lying.
Not saying you are calling me a liar but if he say's he can get them I believe him, maybe I'm just stupid or just naive in hoping that it is true but he has kept his word on everything else. I hope he's telling the truth every other time he has said " yes I can get them" he has. He swears his guy has had them before ( just learned this today ) and can get them now if the price is right but it is a pain in the (EXPLETIVE DELETED). I told him I'd pay up to 500 dollars a piece for them ( if it is 1 adult male and 1 adult female ) but it does take time as I am sure you know it does with certain species.
Hope you don't prove me wrong. I just want these to help expand this hobby that we all love so much they are really awesome specimens from the pic's.

| Yes I understand. I too would love to see them getting available (at a cost prolly). I dont want to prove you wrong. Far from. I just want you to be careful and look it out. That is a whole lot of money and some people go far to get it. I didnt want to chase you up the curtains . So I might have been a bit blunt, but remember I never said you were lying. It would be quite remarkable if you found some and as I said I would be very happy for you if you get what you want. I would just go see for myself. Someone breeding these would be known. You CAN however rub it in my face if you succeed getting them and make pictures. I am prepared On a sidenote, try asking BrianS. I have seen his name come up once regarding this species. de Ythier » Jeu Jan 06, 2005 10:23
A+ EricBasically what Ythier says is that it might be a dark color morph of L. Quinguestriatus and that the species is so new and rare that we currently dont have much information on them, let alone have breeding pairs. The species is discovered in 2002. Ythier himself is one of the few people very acknowledged. I even believe he does taxonomy on scorpions and writes books of scientific value himself as his profession. It is written in 2005, so only 3 years after its discovery. Could be more news definately is available now! Good luck bro, definately want to see you get one and some pictures for us to share. If you can mate them, some people will gladly pay for them to ease up the steep acquisition price.

| I've just been waiting so long for these to be available, and then he brings it up in conversation that he can get them . I asked him this time last year if he could get them and he said he'd talk to his guy then told me prob next year. Well its next year , so I hope he's not just saying it. Maybe I'm just excited ,in case you'll cant tell by the screen name (I love deathstalkers) so maybe I jumped the gun by posting this thread but I wanted to see if anyone else knew anything about them. I understand the skepticism ,even though he said he can get them I still am a little skeptical but deep down I believe it, or maybe just want to believe it. It has been about 10 years since they were discovered so it should be enough time to breed a bunch. Thank you for your concern but a 1000 dollars to get these guys in the hobby would be well worth it to me. If I do get them I'd breed them to get them out there n ot to make a profit ,just having a couple will be good enough for me.
Thank you for your concern Pluto, I had been watching this site for a while before joining and it is obvious you know your stuff when it comes to scorps . I'm not one to throw anything in anybody's face especially yours.

| Nah dude, dont worrie about it.. Absolutley none taken. I'm kinda like you when I chase something I want. It is good to have passion! I understand you want something badly and you should go for it! Eventually they will turn up. And it is the people that bite themselves into something they really want, that get it. So you're bound to have a couple someday! And if it is this year, dude then I'm envious and will be very very happy to buy some from you down the road. You can always travel to Jordan yourself and poke every hole you find if you got that 1000 bucks to spare :-) edit: There are people here that know far more than I do. I know what I keep, you know what you keep (LEIURUS species no doubt ) .. and I'm glad we can find each here and on other boards to solve some mysteries about each his/her preferred species, habitat. Ps: you have a love for the american hypercar too then being Saleen the latter part of your name? The indestructable american V8 in a carbonfibre lightweight body. Piece of art. | |

| Wish I could go to Jordan and a few other countries that way for some scorp hunting, but unfortunately I'm not supposed to leave the state of Massachusetts ( even though I do but I didn't just say that ) never mind the country. On probation for speeding 123 mph in a 45 mph zone and then got caught doing 85 mph in a 35 mph zone.
U.S traffic laws suck .
Unfortunately I just have a hooked up SALEEN mustang and not an S7, but I have alot of money invested in it so it will get up and go pretty damn quick
P.S It is pretty damn cool we have a place like this to share and have discussions on this awesome hobby

| I just found out today ( from my buddy/guy I buy my scorps from ) that it is in the works as I type this. His guy told me personally that they are going to be expensive but they shouldn't be what I offered to pay. He is trying to get me the best deal , but if worse comes to worse he can get them for what I said I'd pay for sure. Yes they are a rare species and yes they are very hard to get but he said it's def gonna happen. So hopefully within the next couple of weeks I'll have them and be able to post some pic's.

That doesnt surprise me as there only is 1(!!) pic of one on the entire internet. I am sceptical about this species. edit: I just read only one of these has ever been found, near sandstones and a cavesystem, south of Jordan. If that is true, I dont know but it would explain that only one picture is available. If someone wants to sell you one of these, make sure you know them, they have pictures ready of ADULT specimen and that they are no foreigners. Money sent = money lost on these atm imho.

| Pluto I'm just curious were you read that there has only 1 ever been found. and when that was published ? Was it from the Venom List from a 5 yr old post ? I'm not trying to be a (bleep) just I'm curious if from somewhere else. Cause I know there isn't much info out there and yes there is only 1 pic but much could be speculation on those posts from novice keepers . Just cause there has only been 1 REPORTED discovery ( by Dr. Wilson R. Louren ) of the species doesn't mean that someone else hasn't got 1 (or more) and been trying to breed them.

| Sure hope it's the real deal, make sure he's not just trying to label L. jordanensis on a T. asthenes or a Hottentotta judaicus, i've seen this happen before.
Don't pay first and see later, demand a picture with verification within the picture that it's authentic. This is like a friend saying they know a guy that has a ferrari Enzo for sale, proof first, purchase second.
I would even seriously think about taking 3 days off work and driving cross country and over the border, over 2500kms, to buy these. Good luck!
*edit* Pluto is citing from Lourenço, Modry & Amr - http://www.ntnu.no/ub/scorpion-files/z_amr.htm
"the species was recently described from a desert habitat composed of sandstone cliffs surrounded by flat sand dunes from southern Jordan on the basis of a female specimen (Lourenço et al . 2002). According to Lourenço et al . (2002) the species distribution appear limited to an enclave within the area in which its most related species (Leiurus quinquestriatus) is distributed."
Seems he mistook them saying they're findings are of one female specimen, not that only one has ever been found. But as one can see the distribution is very limited.
