| i seen pics of desert species on black sand.i made a mini viv for a bark when they grow up.could they live on that black sand or would it be a stressor as they arent camouflaged at all against it.do i need to mix it with anything,wet it and pack it down? | |

| Sand color doesn't matter as much as what comprises the sand in general... I like to mix some peat or coco with my sand for desert animals at a 65/35 ratio of sand to peat!

| Black sand tends to have larger granules too compared to regular sand. | |

| You can get black sand that isn't calcium sand, and has small granules if that's what you are looking for. | |

| well i have black calcium sand.is that bad for em? i have plenty of time to correct if necessary as the slings are still i3 and in deli cups and arent in that type of sand yet. | |

| I've heard mixed things about calcium sand. I remember reading that it can gum up their lungs though... Not sure how true that is. I don't ever use it so I haven't any first hand knowledge. | |
