| Howdy, I'm relatively new at the scorpion game, I've only had my Emperor since late September. She just had her babies this past weekend and I was wondering what tips/tricks y'all might have to help me keep the little buggers alive. Thanks all! | |

| Ignore mom for a week or two.
Don't offer food.
When the young start to wander off mom's back, you have three options: 1) Separate them and house them individually (highest survival rate, most effort) 2) Separate them and house them together (slight risk of cannibalism) 3) Leave them in with mom (slight risk of cannibalism)
With option 3, some hobbyists have observed mom helping to tear up prey and offer to the little ones.
Once they've started wandering, if they fluoresce under a blacklight, then they're ready for prey.

| I have a dozen crickets in the cage with mom and the babies already, are they going to be a problem? Also, roughly how long are the babies with mom and when can I get them and separate them into their own containers? Thanks! | |

| I'd probably try and remove the alive crickets because they might stress her out. You could just place a head crushed cricket nearby her. | |

| Ok, I will try to get the crickets out of the cage then. My only concern was that the babies needed food but I guess I will put a dead cricket near her and see what happens. Thank you! | |

| Just try not to disturb her though, like Mordax said just ignore her so as not to stress her out.
Welcome to the forum. | |

| Yeah, I have been leaving her be so I didn't stress her out. That was another reason I was concerned about getting the crickets out of her cage. Thank you again! | |

| The young won't eat until after they reach second instar. They're born with enough reserves to last them, and mouthparts that are too soft to eat if they wanted to.
Even after they molt, they need a few days to harden up.
