btw.. he's not a mutant, that's a cricket head poking out his mouth. they have a pair of claws infront of the mouth. anybody know what that's called? i lost track of time watching him.. looked up it was 12.. was supposed to be in bed lol

I dunno though actually hard to tell from that angle could be female lol just the dent yours has our females have no dent at all, I'm no expert either so see what someone else says

i don't get the 'dent' where is it on the claw bex? is it actually on the pinchy bit lol? as in not on the big bulky bit that doesnt pinch

It may be the lighting on yours that's making it look dented to me it's the larger section of the claw if you look on the male pics of mine his whole claw is a lot flatter and dented where as the female is bulbus and rounded, the more I look at yours compared to my male now im thinking female lol

Sweet cavi mate, definitely male by the shape and colour of the claws as Bex says and also the notch and tooth on the movable finger which females don't have.

If you look on Bex's pics you can see the female with a relatively flat bottom finger of the claw and the male with the notch and tooth. You can see it on my male claw here too. Anyway nice new addition whatever it's sexuality

I only read about that recently on the link below, looking again actually it's just a pronounced tooth on the male claw and the dented look. The meaning of cavimanus is interesting, cavi=dent manus=hand.

yours is a male, I have a male too that has the female qualities, from what I read the female digs burrows while the male just finds a place to hide, not opting to make tunnels/burrows

my male has made a huge tunnel system under ground with 3 entrances now, originally only 1 entrance from the rock hide he was provided, a few weeks later after being reintroduced to his new home he went on a digging frenzy
