Subject: What plant for Emp tank? 2/14/2011, 5:55 am
Hi.
Does anyone keep live plants in their Emp enclosures? I just setup the tank for my baby emp in the weekend, but would like some more colour in it, and was thinking of somekind of vine-like plant that would stand the moisture but wouldnt harm the scorp.
Any ideas?

I put in an ivy plant and a pothos plant. The ivy didn't last (probably because of the heat lamp), but the pothos are still alive today and growing. They do very well in low light and require very little maintenance, not to mention they help regulate humidity in your tank. A very hardy plant for a tropical setup from my experience.

I've heard of people using live vines and certain types of hasta plants in their Emp tanks. I've heard as well though that coco fibre (if that's what you're using) has little to no nutritional value for plants. So I'd take that in consideration too when you pick out plants.

i use spider plants, because they arent poisonous so its all right if the feeders eat them.

Yeah, unfortunately there are quite a few toxic house plants out there and pothos is one of them. I haven't had trouble with my prey items ingesting them though or dying for that matter.
