| if you must, then pick it up by the tail and place it on your hand. try to keep your hand close to the substrate so it wont fall too far and you can put it away quickly if you need to. | |

| If anything, you're more than likely going to get pinched than stung. =P | |

| I handle mine every now and again, however I don't pick him up by his tail, I put my hand in his tank flat and with a bit of guidance he scuttles on to it. Normally he just creeps around my wrist and up my arm or he'll "lie down" on the back of my hand. I never try to handle him when he's just sat there, I'll only do when he's exploring his tank, and I'll only do this every couple of months to avoid stressing him out.
Never been stung. He pinched me so hard the first time though he cut the end of my middle finger. Since then he's been quite placid. | |

| I wouldn't recommend picking it up by the tail because they tend to squirm and start trying to pinch your fingers. They seem very stressed when that's done. I like to push the scorpion on another surface like a flat piece of bark and take it out of the tank that way. Then I push it on over to my hand. Another method is using a small container and nudging it into that, then transferring it from the container to my hand. You can also do it like Billy No Mates suggested and place a flat hand in the tank and softly nudge it onto your hand. When you handle them, try to keep your hands still and make sure not to breathe directly onto it because they're very sensitive to it. When you're done handling, slowly place whatever object you have it on (hand, container, piece of bark) back into the container and gently push it completely off. Lastly, be in control of the situation and don't fling it across the room lol | |

| Additionally when you do handle it, make sure you are completely calm and comfortable with handling it. If it thinks you're panicking, it won't be comfortable, and it'll dart around and you'll probably drop the poor thing. I take this precaution with my other scorpions too. Which I might add I have not got round to handling, mainly because my AFS scared the crap out of me when she hissed, and my little Arizonensis is just way too aggressive. I will only handle them, when I'm completely comfortable with it. Welcome to the hobby! | |

| i handled mine quite a lot when i got them last year, the novelty soon wears off though, only advice i can give is dont let them on the carpet as you will not be able to get them off as i found when i handled one of my emporors for the first time,it managed to get on the carpet then up into my sofa where he climbed up into a nice dark spot and i had to cut the sofa up to get at him | |

| Mission accomplished xD i just handled mine and it seemed very calm. Although i have to say i was really nervous. i placed it back in the tank about an hour ago and it went to his hiding place than he came out and started climbing towards the top as if he wanted to go out some more. | |
