It's called stilting. It's how scorps regulate body temperature.

I guess you learn something new every day +1 I always wondered what she was doing lol, and thanx everyone she is awesome starting to think about getting another male to replace the one we lost a few weeks back, I'm sure she's adult but was sold to us as sub adult, cant wait to have a mating pair of something lol and the phone I used is just an iPhone but it always amazes me how good some pics come out can't wait till we have our canon 550d then I can get some real good ones. I think she is about 4-5 inches Rene not 100% though as that's just a guess really as we hardly ever see her but she has been digging out her burrow a bit more recently so been getting to see her a bit more than usual, she is quite large though that's why I call her Tyni

Nice name! Ironically I had just suggested to ScorpionSam on his 'what to name his scorp' thread to name his new emp Tiny. He went with another name but find it funny! Great taste!! - Mr. Mordax wrote:

| we was after an adult so its kinda good in a way as long as shes not too much of an adult lol if she dies in the next 3 months like the first "old" scorp we got sold i will be very annoyed indeed! She was meant as a partner to our male emp but i think he was just to old and not interested as the poor thing died soon after we got him, should get another male asap then really a? | |

| I don't think she molted. The telson is cream-colored in subadults, and your girl's looks brown in both pictures. | |

| hmmm maybe she was just fat...weird...is it possible she could have been gravid but lost them? she was not this big when we got her, this is a pic of her the day we got her which was the 4 september.... and by the 31st oct she was huge lol, she was not over fed but could be possible she was taking the males food as well as her own due to him being on his way out? maybe who knows just seems wierd that shes gone from this to this to this in like 3 months? | |

| It's possible she had a brood and then absorbed them; I've had that happen in my collection. | |

I thought the telson looked a bit creamish in the first pix, but then again the light was a bit brighter as well. Also unless she molted like yesterday you will probably see some of the exoskeleton coming out of the burrow. They don't like garbage in there unless you notice her creating a new burrow. If you had a black light they are great for checking the tank and you'd be surprised at what bits and pieces you find of exoskeleton's. All my scorpions and T's have always removed debris from their burrow's. It is funny. My T's especially, I'll notice a molt in their hide and will want to get it out but if I wait for a day I come out in the morning and the molt is usually placed on top of it's hide like 'please get this garbage out of my enclosure - Thank you, Mr. T."

| My H. Maculata and P. Irminia all do this, all 8 specimens, lol!
My AFS's being the pet holes that they are will do this for the most part also. They will sometimes abandon their burrow though and start a new one. I find bits and pieces brought to the surface from them.
