| so yea i read the forums and used the search tool, read some stuff here and there. I recently just bought a female emp and i added her in with my male. My male is like small compared to her. All she wants to do is shred him apart always starting with a sting. I always break up the fight and hope that maybe they will get along but it seems when they fight she just wants to break him in 2. She was fed before i joined them.

| emps and things like them (heterometrus species) are communal species, however they are still territorial, and i lost most of a colony of 7 h. spinifer to cannibalism.
what you need to do is rearrange all the decor and change the substrate so it doesnt smell of or look like the females territory and then introduce both at once.

| I'm always had fighting in the beginning, but eventually my scorpions settled down. Give it some time and keep an eye out. As scorpio said, try to rearrange the tank. Provide at least 2 hides for them and make sure they're fed. Smaller scorpions usually get picked on by the larger ones and at times get eaten, but they can coexist. | |

Nope... =} Just keep an eye on them... If things dont calm down within a week... you might need another tank. The little fight here or there is ok. But if the female keeps going after the male all the time... You should prob split them up.

| thats to bad mate, even tho emps are known for being docile and calm ive had a few in the past which have been real aggresive, each one has got their own personality. | |

| Are you certain they are not both male? Sorry to dredge up an old topic but males will fight if housed together, won't they? | |

| Not necessarily; the species is generally considered communal. | |

They do fight, but i had only 2 males together for ever then one died. but it died of old age not from fighting...They fought for a while then i rearranged the tank then they settled in together. 2 males is very possible.
