Hi Mate, Not to worry. This is a discussion thread for Parabuthus and i'm also having the intention of doing an update. For mating guide, you may wish to refer to the following [HOW TO] thread: [HOW TO] Guide to Mating Scorpions There is no definite way of doing things. As different breeders may have their own style of doing things, whatever works for the keeper is fine. For a simple reference only @lmiller Nice addition! Seems like a cute 3.instar or 4.instar (at most) Yes, they are very hardy. A close friend of mine had the experience of sending some overseas in a 5-7 day transit. No issue at all. They were feeding immediately after unpacking to their new enclosure. Feel free to post your queries and share the growing up pics.. You will definitely have fun raising this lil guy up!

| Thanks GS, the female was not interested at all in mating. Thought this might happen as she is WC or she has not settled in that well. | |

| That is true. She might need time to settle down after a transit. Anyway, i believe you might have read, most WC(wild-caught) female adult specimens are already gravid. But it's always good to have a male or multiple males on standby. Good luck and keep us updated! | |

| Not far from popping then? I have never kept P. transvaalicus myself even though they are in abundance in South Africa. | |

| Generally.. gestation period ranged from 10 to 14 months. Yeah, it's human nature for most ppl to cherish items which are usually "out of reach" They are a must have for advance keepers, imo

| Parabuthus liosomaSexual dimorphism:Method 1: Sexing by the presence of basal middle lamella (bml).Pectinal teeth overlaps between sexes in Parabuthus species, and hence it is useless to conduct a pectine tooth count. Instead, we can differentiate the sexes of most Parabuthus spp via the presence of basal middle lamella (BML). Females have enlarged basal middle lamella which look like "earlobes" at the points where the pectine meets , these are not present in males'. This sexual dimorphism is evident as early as from 2.instar which makes it possible for sexing early instar. #1 *Feasible sexing method from 2.instar Method 2: Sexing by Chela's comparison#2 (Top view) #3 (Side view) *Feasible sexing method from 7.instar Method 3: Difference in terms of body massIn adult specimens, females typically appear bigger and bulkier than males. Adult males usually stays slim, although this is might not always the case. Sample picture below to show the difference. #4 #5

| Hello,
i like u to advice me what to do. I have 2nd instar of parabuthus transvaalicus. For about 3 moth everything went ok, he ate normally and so on but today i found him in terrarium lying on his back, when I carefully turned him right, he started to walk but very slowly, he is completely slow and seems like half-dead. Do you somebody have any idea what is going on? Thank you in advance.

| Was it in pre-molt? If yes, then it was probably preparing for the molting process, as P. trans sometimes molt on their back. | |
