| I've seen a lot of people saying they keep their heating pads on the side of the tank. I currently have mine under the tank, but I will be getting a new tank soon and am thinking about trying it on the side. My question though would be wouldn't the glass be prone to cracking when misted? | |

| You MUST have the heat mat on the outside of the backside of the tank.
Scorpions burrow to get away from the heat when they are too hot. So putting the heat source underneath will go against their natural instincts and will stress them massively. A prolonged period of this will probably kill them due to stress or being too hot.
Unless you have an exo terra tank, then no, if you place it on the outside of the backside then it will not crack.
Also, don't spray as it is ineffective and won't last long (You'll have to do it daily) Instead, pour some water onto your coco fibre substrate so that it is damp but not soaking and that should give you perfect humidity at around 80%-90%. This level of humidity will last for a week or two before you repeat the process. | |
