I need your guys opinion.

I found this on a forest island (forest surrounded by desert) here in southern Arizona. about 40 minutes from Tucson. the elevation was around 5500.

this is the specimen i found.

i have narrowed it down to two species.

people have told me its more likely the second, because of the elevation factor, but i think it looks more like the first, what do y'all think????

Im almost 90% sure that that is a Hadogenes Paucidenes (female) but its very likely that it is a young specimen since they age so slowly.

I am 1000000% sure that its not hadogenes paucidenes, you have to read what i posted. Hadogenes spp. are from africa.

yeah well look at the scorpion....has all the traits as a flat rock...

not the first as that doesnt have anything like the same claws - at the first glance i immediately thought h.paucidens too but had to look again as the tail is certainly much fatter than a pauciden but as said it has all the traits of a flat rock - is there any chance you could get some better pics - from a side - from above - better view of claws

i think the pic of the actual specimen isnt that good for an ID

Its not H.Paucidens or any other hadogenes sp.

I think it looks more like Uroctonites huachuca, only the colouring on the mesasoma and metasoma isn't anywhere near the same.

Just had a look on scorpion files and found a sp that is a little darker than yours but looks identical in every other way including the size of the telson, yellow legs, size of metasoma and the stripes on the tergites.

i agree it does look similar to that sp. no one was defeated, you gave your opinion.

I will comeback to this thread with pics of different angles.
