| So I set up a new tank for my two emps. 40 gallon wide... pretty nice all around. made a false bottom using plexi glass on rocks for 3/4 of the tank, other 1/4 was just rocks and water ( little pond ) so i went on a 5 day trip.... come back to find that all my water evaporated ( i expected that ) but emps have gotten under the plexi glass and now been there since i came back with no desire to come out.
should i let them live their life? slowly add water and hope they come out before drowning? unassemble whole set up and get them out?

| Can your emps feed under there? If I were you I'd get them out and set up an awesome naturalistic enclosure with live plants A 40 gal wide is extremely roomy for just 2 emps. I'd probably add a few more in there | |

| ok so yesterday with the help of my cousin i extracted the scorpions...
female is dead. not sure of the cause. She was very bloated. Maybe overfeeding, maybe moulting problem, maybe something else
removed the false bottom now its just substrate all around the tank to play it safe.
Male seems to be ok. I m gonna need more scorps...

| It wouldn't be overfeeding - they will stop eating when they've been fed too much. Was she eaten at all? I know its unusual with this sp but it has been known to occur on the rare occasion. | |

| when they die they usually appear bloated afterwards. I see this often and not to mention it was probably dead and soaking in the water.
Anyways, good thing you removed that false bottom. In my experience it's not needed at all, just adds unnecessary weight to the tank.

| That's probably the reason, too. I like to keep my tanks simple, but just adding the right pieces of driftwood and live plants makes it looks a lot better. Here's a pic of my tank: all it has in there is a piece of driftwood, a clay dish, and two plants. | |
