| TY TY. I am pretty excited, love watching them both just do their thing. Best thing is that my wife is starting to warm up to them too. | |

| We will have to see. Hopefully she will mention that I still have 2 empty enclosures so I may as well fill them. Lol. | |

| The female had just been transplanted to a smaller enclosure and was caught in the corner. The slate pile is out of the pic. And the "male" is still in a deli container with a fake leaf to hide under. I say "male" because I guess its hard to tell that young, but, maybe I can will it to be true.
And she is fat, lol. Thats my fault though because I gave her 2 dozen medium crickets every 2 weeks. I now know that was wrong, and have decided to give the Dubai roach a try.

| Oooo crikey, no wonder she is fat then lol. Get that young'un on to some nice, dry sandy soil with some stacked slate to go and hide in. He will appreciate it a lot | |

| Its not to early? Hes about the size of a dime relaxed. I was worried about him in that container but its easy for him to grab a pinhead. | |

| You could still use the same container. Just add some sand to the substrate and make sure it is dry. From the pic it looks like the substrate is a little bit wet but it may just be shadowing or something??
For a hide, get a couple of little pieces of dried bark that you can lay on top of each other. This will provide the narrow crevices this species likes to inhabit.

| Sweet, thanx for that. I will do that right now. Should I offer water in a milk cap or something? | |

| I have never raised juvenile flat rocks before but for my adult I offer it a water dish a couple of times a month. It never uses it though lol. I also lightly spray one corner of its enclosure, again every few weeks, and it will drink the droplets off the glass.
This species does not like high humidity so never have a full water dish in its enclosure permanently. Just offer one occasionally and leave it in the tank over night. To be honest for your juvenile I would just lightly spray a tiny bit of the side of the tub every week or two. Saves risking drowning and trying to squeeze a dish/bottle top in to a small container.

| The reason he was in the tub with substrate that was damp is because that was the way I got him from the pet store. Apparently thats how he got his water. I will be doin a lil mist to the side of the tub every little while. Thanks for the information. | |

| As for large female Hadogenes, a small ceramic drain dish for terracotta pots would suffice as a source of standing water. I'd give a small spray in the corner of the container once a week or every two weeks for the smaller individual as babies are much more susceptible to dessication and less to mycosis than adults due to the frequency of their molts and thinner cuticle. Judging by the white "blobs" showing through the tergites of your female, I'd say she is most likely gravid. Keep her warm and in a well ventilated enclosure offering water every two weeks or once a week (this can fluctuate) and keep feeding her on a regular schedule. Getting to experience the full life cycle of these animals has always been the most rewarding in my experience. Best of luck to you. | |

| Well that would be the koolest thing if she is in fact gravid. Shes been eating right along, I put a medium cricket in there this morning, its still there but she may eat it tonight. With the water, Ive seen pics where they have stones in there, so they dont drown? | |

| The stones are merely there to satisfy peoples irrational paranoia. As long as the dish is large and/or shallow enough for the scorpion to crawl out of, they should be fine, but then again, I use clay water bowls which are a bit more porous than other materials. | |

| Ok so I put a bunch more slate rock in the enclosure (hopefully she enjoys the extra hides) and put a small cap with water in there with her, took about a day and a half to go empty, I wouldnt mind offering her water all the time incase she needs a drink but I dont know if it will raise the humidity in the tank too much. | |
