| Ehhh truthfully doesnt matter. I make it so they have to dig it themselves that way it perfect to what they want. I do believe that it may make them a bit more territorial because they did it themselves and they know its there rather than using one thats already there. | |

| Dependant on what you are using as hides, they might burrow regardless of any hides in there. Don't restsrict your scorpions from burrowing, just give them a hide or two each and that will encourage them to use them. | |

| What I do is put in a lot of substrate, pack it down, and partially bury a piece of driftwood on top. I think you have an emperor scorpion and if that's the case it'll probably start a burrow on its own. You can make a little pre-burrow if you wish which will help determine where you want your scorpion to dig. I have mind right in the middle and in front for me to see I also think they behave much more different than if they simply took shelter under a regular hide. Mine are more skittish, but appear less sluggish. I also enjoy watching my scorpions dig themselves a burrow and I really do believe it's better for them. | |

| just as long as you give them enough substrate to burrow... they know how to sort themselves out... don't worry too much... Gravid females will dig deeper to make a birthing chamber... in any event... they will do whatever feels natural to them... keep the substrate a bit moist whenever possible.... you can spray the enclosure until your fingers ache lol or just pour a little water onto the substrate and let it seep to the bottom... this will give them sufficient moisture
Cheers. | |
