So today i got bored...

and decided to go for a walk in the woods next to my neighborhood.
and about 20 minutes into the walk i found a dead pine tree stump that looked like it had easy bark to tear away, well after i tore off about 3 pieces and this is what came crawling across my hand...





now i can admit that i had the intentions of looking for scorpions, but i didnt think id have such luck with finding one.
but sure enough, thats what i found...
Now this entire excursion into the woods was inspired by a link Sithis posted earlier and doing some research according to the website (if you look at "non arizona scorpions, and go into the Florida section you will see it)

yuo should be glad you found 1 at all. i live in cali and ill probably never find any scorps

Coolness Im glad that site has helped someone already. What is the weather like over there, How is the day and night temp? I have been going twice every weekend but to no avail. I have found pill bugs, crickets, wolf spiders, and earwigs. No scorpions though. Maybe ill go to the desert on saturday night, use my new UV light.

i know right...lol dont say never, i had that attitude when i left the house...and i managed to atleast find one

in the daytime, its between 70-78 degrees, warm enough for me to wear shorts (farenheit) (rough estimate)...
at night it drops to like 60-65, maybe lower , i dont really know all i know is, its kinda chilly...
i just wish the wind would go away, then it would be warmer...

i originally thought that if i didnt find any kind of scorpion, that id look for wild bugs for my emps to eat, but i kept finding these little creepy black spiders.

i wish i had a desert environment around here, i think it would be awesome to go hunting at night for them...
i still cant get over the fact that i found one in the daytime...

well the temp here in cali is nice in the sun but slightly chilly in the shade. has some wind as well running through where i live. im in sacramento

ive always wanted to visit cali again...
i went there when i was real young to redondo beach, and thought it was just awesome...

im not even sure where it is, i just remember the name redondo...lol

nothing really good in california... everyone thinks its like a good place but its really not all that awesome.

try Southern CA, there are scorps and many cool animals. I heard the San Diego area has some.

now if Mr.Mordax would make a surprise comeback...

I seem to recall hearing they like it on the moist side, and mine did better with a bit of humidity (remember, you're in Florida).

I'm reasonably sure yours is an adult male. I'd need a shot of the metasoma out all the way to say for sure.

ill take your word for it...i dont plan on breeding it, so im not really worried about the sex, im just amazed i found it lol
