| do you know of any ways to help preserve or possibly create more heat in a ten gallon tank? my warmest side says its about 82-83 and my coolest is 72-73 F. Or maybe these temps are fine the way they are? | |

| Emps can do 97 to 82 if you want them to be active. | |

| well i cant make it any hotter...lol i got a 60 watt heat emitter that has no light and i would think it would provide more heat considering i have about ninety percent of my top covered with a damp towel. Maybe my thermometer is wrong? it says only 83 | |

| Don't worry to much about temps. The only good thing higher temps are for is to have your scorps more active. In a way it shortens their life actually the higher the temps the faster their metabolism works. | |

| In a way....lower temps will make them digest slower therefor making them eat less often. But your temps are fine. | |

| I dunno about that, they got an Emp in the LPS ages ago, they had it in a desert setup with a heatlamp directed on it 24/7 and it was there for AGES.
however, this obviously doesn't mean you should keep them like that. just saying. they are very resillient creatures.
but temps are important if you want to get some activity out your scorpion. I kept one of mine at about 70* for quite a while and it did NOTHING. | |

| Its not a dramatic change i'm talking about just lifetime. A scorpion from birth raised at room tempeture compared to one raised at 90F will live significantly longer. | |

| yeah, of course. Mabye I should conduct an experiment with 2 juvis, keep on at like 70* and one at 90* and see how long they live. | |

| I just used a trick to add a bit of humidity to my baby b. jacksoni. They are in my dresser drawer in individual tupperware containers with coco fiber I keep moist. Each container has a piece of cork tile for molting against the side at a 45 degree angle and a flat rock for use as a scrape if desired...or just a horizontal spot to hang. I have a lot of holes in the containers for ventilation. I put one of those candle warmers in the drawer with a cup of water and ran the plug out the drawer. It should boost the humidity and temp a bit. | |
