Subject: Does this A mauritanicus female look 7i to you? 5/25/2014, 3:42 pm
According to my records this female is 7i but she looks a bit too small compared to the adult male on the right
She was not receptive at all and became aggressive with the male when he persisted. She was doing a twitching movement which i have not seen before in scorps
Let me know if you think she needs another moult
Thanks

A.mauritanicus females can attain 8i. My female was labelled as adult(7i) when I got her and she refused to mate with my male so I thought she must be gravid and then one day poof, she molted to 8i. After that she mated and gave birth successfully.

And btw, I saw the one guy on FB said A.australis reached 30 years of age, that's pretty much nonsense. They live about 5-6 years, maybe 7.

Thanks, I will try again in a few weeks and if she continues with the aggro I will feed her up and hope for a final moult
Yes i read the 30 years comment too and was a bit puzzled. I assumed they lived 4-5 years max

The size comparison strongly suggests she has another moult to go yet....
