Hey guys sorry for my lack of activity lately I've been super busy with work, a growing toddler, and I've also been trying to get active and healthy so it seems all my free time is being spent at the gym ( for anyone who cares I've lost a total of 11 lbs and went from 60 lbs bicept curls to 100 in the past month). Anyways in the last time I posted about ants attacking my scorps...which they've done quite a few times since then. I've lost a chunck of my collection to these crazy ants but I've somehow managed to keep my precious G.ankarana alive. Except during my crazy rehosing of my scorpions after the ant attacks I had my subadult female G.ankarana escape!!!!!! Luckily for me these are one of the most active scorps I've ever owned so I set a "trap" based on behaviors I've observed. I know that at night when they start to wonder around if they hit a vertical surface that they can climb they will not hesitate to climb it. So I got a 6 ft carpet I have at home and rolled it up so that the non-carpet side was facing outward and underneath the carpet I laid my wet towel (after a shower) direcectly underneath the towel. The weather is hot her in Cali right now so I new it would seeks out some humidity and my plan was to have it climb the carpet where it would stand out like sore thumb. Surely enough 3 days after it went missing I saw my girl climbing the carpet just as I predicted. Moral of the story.....take care of your Ankarana kids, cuz one loose fitting lid in a tuperware cotainer is all you need to loose your breeding project.
