take him to the vets and get him scanned for a microchip.
Put up found posters and also on any internet websites for missing/found animals.

You could also post something on craigslist and say "email to describe" so you know it's the owner.

You should still do at least SOMETHING to try finding the owner. Someone might really be missing their dog right about now. He sure doesn't look like a stray.

I'm with the rest of them. You should at least post "Found Dog" posters and or post on craigslist. But on ther other hand there is alot of people letting their pets go because they just can't take care of them anymore, times or rough for alot right now. But you should make the effort, things might go you way there is a chance no one will claim the dog.

contact your local RSPCA to report the dog as found and that you are caring for it. Give the dogs discription and if someone calls looking for their lost dog, then they know how to find the dog in question.

Im missing my Hobbes and I would HATE for someone to just think "meh they must not have wanted him". we have him microchipped and he did have a collar on.
This dog could be very very dearly missed

I dont think they have RSPCA after all the R stands for Royal so probs just a British thing
The A in ASPCA stands for american so im sure that must be there equivalent
