| Hi all i have found a few more scorpions, first a big black one i dont know if its just an adult A mauritanicus or if it might be a A bicolour but it looks like a she and i wondered if it might be gravid? opinions welcome she is about 7cm not including tail is my guess. i have also found a small baby that is about 1.5 cm and blackish and a big yellowish brownish which after researh i think is closest looking like a E Italicus? it is also quite fat as i found a few 25 plus of this species (left them all in there burrows after finding) and she was the fatest so might also be gravid? i also found a nice centipede which is about 5 or 6 cm which i am trying to identify any help appreciated i have tried to upload the images here but if it does not work ill email them to admin again oh any advise on how to care for the pede is very welcome thanks Umar | |

| oh by the way the brown/yellow one is (as a species) very very aggressive i dont know if it helps with identification but they attack everything close to them relentlessly and are quick to take an aggressive stance even reaction to noises and movement up to a foot away | |

| Hi Umar, nice new finds! The brown one is a Scorpio maurus subspecies. There are about 10 S.m. subspecies reported from Morocco and it's impossible to tell you the exact ssp. just by pics, at least for me. The big black scorpion is most likely a Androctonus mauritanicus. The small black scorpion looks like a juvenile Androctonus sp. | |

| The large black one looks like an adult A. mauritanicus -- that's my guess. I think I counted 22 pectinal teeth, and I couldn't see a chela notch, so I would guess female. I don't think it's fat enough to say it's gravid at this stage, though. AWESOME finds again, Umar! You're making the rest of us jealous. | |

| Mike's right, it's an adult female. At this time of the year she should have already dropped some kids. You shouldn't expect another batch before 2009, Umar. | |

| Nice finds. The centipede should be housed like a venomous snake. Escape proof. DONT HANDLE. And keep it moist with enough substrate to burrow. Feeding them is fun. -Eddy | |

| Hi Umar. The pede is probably a ssp. of Scolopendra Cingulata. Extremely nice finds! | |

| well im lucky in that i live in there natural environment so i use substrate that i take from where they live and i feed them what i collect from where they live and as for temperature i don't heat them as the temperature is also the same here as where they live hehehe if i have a cold night i wrap there enclosure in towels to insulate them and then wrap myself in covers after hehehe i make the substrate very deep as they dig burrows that are quite deep, one thing they are very very aggressive more so than the other species i keep maybe because they are the least venomous they try to make up for it in other areas hahaha | |
