Found a Centipede Empty
PostSubject: Found a Centipede   Found a Centipede Empty6/12/2011, 10:34 pm

It was crawling on my floor when we got home from the bar last night. I caught it and now it lives in a jar. It ate a cricket today. That was one of the most energetic feedings I've witnessed. I'll post some pictures when I get around to it lol!

Please do! I am not to fond of these however.
They are horror incarnate...

And some of them get like, well, HUGE... and their bite is often very painful.

It would lash out at any movement in it's box. Yeah would do the scorpion glass climbing thing. Obviously faster and longer than a scorp and could easily escape if you didn't clip the lid. They are surprisingly quick.

It was insane. If you poked it and startled it. It would wildly flip about trying to bite or whatever. Would do the same catching a locust sometimes. Fun to watch.

I'd recommend a giant pede tbh.

PostSubject: Re: Found a Centipede   Found a Centipede Empty6/13/2011, 6:32 pm

I'd love a giant one, but the lady said NO! I think I could probably persuade her to let me get a mid sized one. I'm thinking about getting a Tanzanian Flag Tailed Centipede. The one I caught was very fast running across my carpet, but it's pretty mellow in it's jar. It went after that cricket though! The second it hit the ground the 'pede was on it like a crackhead on a rock. It was awesome.

I would get one street. They're pretty interesting. Kinda alien. They don't even look real.

Yeah. I really like them. Not as much as scorpions, but still cool. They are alien looking for sure.

PostSubject: Re: Found a Centipede   Found a Centipede Empty6/22/2011, 2:26 am

ive expressed my disgust with those aliens in another thread.
make my skin crawl and stomach turn but i want one.
their behaviour from what ive seen is super interesting, unlike any creature.
their arent any pet shops near me that carry em,and i dont like ordering pets online and having them shipped to me.i work for a package distribution company and i wouldnt want to put any live animal through that process.

This centipede just molted. It now has 14 pairs of legs. From what I read about nondescript red garden centipedes it should be full grown.

Nuke it! Or it dies (centipede are worse than roaches, so unlikely) or it gets supersized
