| Here's a shot of the troublemaker from my community attempt -- I see weird shapes through her membrane and I can clearly see the nerve cord pressed against her tergites. And she's eating in this photo, which is something premolt scorps don't do. Click for zoom. Thoughts? | |

| Sha-WEET! Most of the scorps I have, I'd like to wait until I get a second brood before I start distributing. I have one more male and female but they're both immature. Although, I keep hearing these guys have HUGE broods, so I may be willing to get rid of a few. | |

| Congrats if she's gravid. I'm still unsure about the whole telling if they are gravid thing. But she does look it to me. Average brood size is 60 so I'm sure you will wanted to get rid of a few of them.

| I checked on her again today . . . I can clearly see the embryos and I think I may have seen eyes. But they're getting more discernible. Oh, and I accidentally handled her for a little bit. Something startled her and she ran onto my hand. But I guided her back down onto the bark. | |

| ahh they are fun little scorps... i have 250+ babies right now, 2I and 3I the majority (133 of them) being 3I brood sizes are rather large... and i have another 4 females with babies on their backs...be prepared for lots and lots of cages btw. if u up the humidity a bit and raise temps by 5-10 degrees the babies seem to develop allot faster. and i mean ALLOT p.s. get usto handling them, separating babies is easiest using fingers | |

| I'd heard about the brood sizes. Luckily we have lots of little delicups leftover from when Lori's rose-hair had a sac last summer. I just prefer to handle scorps that are big enough that I can keep easy track of them. Finger separating of babies bugs me when they don't want to get off your fingers. (Case in point: 2I H. paucidens yesterday.) | |

| i was looking for a link i saved on my computer with the exact pectin count... can't find it, basiclly females have short pectics males have long pectins, the males also have longer tail segments and a more streamlined body females tend to be quite a bit chunkier then the males, atleast in all the 100's of vaejovis i've gone through thats how its been... with males if u are looking at them from above u can SEE the pectins with females u can not. fairly simple =P
i'll keep digging around i hope i can find that link for u! | |

| I've got two other V. spinigerus, Shadow. (When I realized you'd been here since February, I changed my post back ). Eddy, these are the standard /\ male, / \ female, with the males' pectinal teeth almost touching if not overlapping. That one expert whose name escapes me for some reason (Someone McWest?) posted a really good picture of it somewhere. | |
