My butt-scratching P.trans finally molted

my P.trans finally molted to 7i.. it's quite big (almost 5 inches long with outstretched telson and pedipalps)

Great pictures. I saw my first mid-moult scorpion tonight. All these years of keeping scorpions and I've finally observed one in this state. I got so excited haha.

I've always wondered why a few species moult on their backs. Does anyone know?

well as the guys here have mentioned, the Parabuthus spp. in particular does the back-molt thingy. probably laying their backs on the sand helps in a 'smooth' way out of the old exoskeleton

this is my first molt sighting as well. i usually wake up one morning and they're done with it. at first i thought it was dead til i saw it shrug a little haha

Oh wow! I have never seen the scorpion moulting process.

Why does he look so huge in the first pic? Is that what they all look like pre-moult?
