| Thank you. It's funny actually now that they're prepping to molt they've both been hanging upside down on their bark. Not sure how they even support their own weight! | |

| no info yet but if I were to make an educated guess I'd say probably an average of ten based on other pictures I've seen of this genus. | |

| Well I'll have more accurate info soon enough I found a picture of G.grandidieri with about 15-20 and a G. flavopiceus (spelling?) with about 12. And G.ankarana is the biggest of the genus so here's hoping it's at least 20 | |

| It's not a real problem for breeding. The only issue comes from potentially weakening the strain and genetic material. But as long as we keep trading scorpions for breeding we can ensure the CB genetics are still very strong. Introducing WC's from expos will also go a along way to ensure the health of the CB community. | |

I don't know much about genetics, but what are the negative effects of a weak gene pool from incest?

I don't know much about genetics, but what are the negative effects of a weak gene pool from incest? I believe some are: - higher risk of genetic mutations, birth defects etc. - problems with fertility - higher risk for disease and compromised immune systems, a "weaker" specimen, so to speak. The above effects can happen, but I think also that that risk in increased by selective inbreeding and letting that go on and on, it is not heathy for the animals I think. However, I do agree with Yames, it happens one way or another, and with introducing fresh blood, new genetic material, you keep a bloodline healthy. Joey

| True introducing a wc specimen would help out. I'm not sure how closely related my specimens are I think it's safe to assume they're at least partially related. The only issue is there are no more Madagascar imports so any new specimens I would need (at least a few generations down ) would have to come from Europe where it's not as rare. @Yames I would love to be able to afford a trip to Canada. | |

| Well her tail has not gone into lowered-curled-to-the-side premolt position as of last night. I was hoping to get a picture but I left my camera at work so hopefully she doesn’t molt before I get a chance to document with some pictures.
