| For those of you wondering about the pink forkā¦it was my daughter bday party last week so I have a ton of those pink forks and spoons at home. So when I finally saw her leave her den I grabbed one to block her entrance back until I could get a picture. | |

| They went to a great home. Can't wait to see if we can get the A. bicolor to breed. | |

| I'd imagine scent or chemical phermones. Her pectines were moving all over the place when I put the fork there, she was scanning the floor. | |

| Scorpions have poor eyesight from our perspective...light-sensitive, but lacking detail.
I'd lean more toward Abyss' thoughts of a chemical trail or scent.

| That would make sense. Macro shots of the median eyes show some sort of pupil, im kinda suprised that they would have poor eyesight.

| The eyes are primitive, they mostly light receptors. Some cave dwellign scorpions have no eyes...and look freakin' awesome! | |

| Very cool! I was web browsing the other day and saw a species of scorpion that had no eyes...I thought it was a genetic fluke. So the pheramone concept is indeed solidified? | |

| Well the pectines are made up peg sensillae litterally thousands of little antenas that make up the teeth. I think what we know for sure is they scan the ground for shape and texture (you need a flat surface to mate) and the pick up odorants. What's not certain but possibly very likely is that they also pick up phermones and is one of the key way they find a mate, and identify themselves as the same species. | |

| That would make sense as the same species could have multiple morphs and will still breed amongst each other, Pheramones would make the most logical sense IMO. Truly a fascinating animal.

Lobsters! No but seriously, ocean dwelling scorpions? The very concept of it is just crazy! On a second note; Mako, I've seen pictures of albino emperors and Heterometrus sp. as well. So definately something to check out on the Googles.

| If you happen to come across any albino scorpions, SHARE THEM and BREED THEM. Cause I'd totally want to breed those and study the traits passed down the generations. | |
