Subject: Trigger happy Bothriurus sp. 6/11/2008, 2:49 am
Here's a clip of my new Bothriurus sp. He's a bit trigger happy as you can see. He had a really hard time killing the butter worm, so eventually I head crushed it and it dragged it into his hide. I guess they have really mild venom like P. imps.
Sorry about the quality. That's YouTube for ya... cuts the quality in half.
I hope he gets bigger than this!

They don't have a common name if that's what you're asking. I don't think that I know anyone that keeps this particular species aside from the dealer I got him from.
Venom Centruroides suffusus

Haha! So true, Connie. I'm almost tempted to get tagged by him purposely so I can write a friggin sting report on how weak it is. Watch he was just messing around with the butter worm and gives me a good one.. LOL

Aww... I was under the impression that it was a juvi. The telson is dark. I'm not sure if that's the same with these guys as it is with emps. That's cool, though. It's a cute little scorp
Do you know anything about their venom? Maybe on a scale of 1-5?
I keep mine in a 50/50 peat/sand mix. I'm not sure what the humidity levels should be. I was told to keep him dry, so the substrate is practically 100% dry...
Thanks.

Venom is most likely a 1. I believe they are from The mountainous deserts, so I have heard keep them dry and cool. Maybe someone will come chime in, I personally have never kept this genus.
