haha.. Sometimes, its hard to always be there to witness the "Love making" when a sweet pair is housed communally.

Hence, i always try to capture the first moment of interaction of an adult pair before leaving them in a communal setup Smile

Steps i did..

1. The female Emp should be like yours.. am already soaking in comfort at her own enclosure.

2. When a male is newly purchased, let him settle in a separate enclosure for min 1 week. Once he begins eating, it can be a sign that he is ready.

3. Intro the male to the female's enclosure , if the female is not gravid and both parties are sexually ready. They should engage in mating almost immediately.

Nevertheless, fingers crossed for you to join Bex's party of white blobs Very Happy

LOL, I would love white blobs.

I know my Female is older..........I'm just hoping we can get some of her. She's our first and she means something to me. To have pieces of her would mean the world to me but if it doesn't happen it doesn't. I can only hope. Right?

He is definitely adult judging by his telson. He came from a tank of at least 50 living communally. She and he took to each other right away, sleeping in the same burrow the day he was brought home. They hang out together, they chill togehter, they both took food together........I have high hopes Smile

@Anna
Yeah i know where you're at anna. I have a precious Heterometrus spinifer named scoopy. I really adored her since she's with me. I'm lucky to get a brood from her early this year.

After all her babies has dismount, i had the chance to let her mate again but i reckon it's kinda tough on her to have successive broods and i forgo the chance and decided to let her have a "rest"

Now she's just enjoy her time.. chilling around with her babies growing up around her Very Happy
Very heart warming to see a communal family of scorpions living in harmony.

This.. I'm sure that your Emps will do that for you as well. Do keep us updated on their love life! Very Happy

@shinning
Thanks mate Smile

I'm starting to think my female doesn't like males LOL. She really wants nothing to do with his advances, but they seem to be cohabitating well. At least she has a friend right?

Ok Folks.

I've searched the forum using the word "mate" and only 4 topics came up, lol, none of which really had to do with Scorpions.

In your experience (and not that they haven't when I haven't been watching), but what would make a male and female emperor not want to mate? It seems like each time he tries, she backs him off. I doubt she is gravid. Do they sometimes just not "mesh"?

Thanks.

Most of the time when they refuse to mate, it's because the female is already gravid.
Anyway, as the forum search is not always too good, I mostly use google when I really want to find something.
Try this search: site:scorpionforum.darkbb.com mate

You'll get lots of entries Smile
