| Hey guys I recently purchased a baby flat rock scorpling about smaller than an inch big. I was wondering how much I should feed the little guy he is very very active! I fed him last night and he ate successfully! I tried feeding him tonight and he never caught the cricket but tried a couple of times after and still didnt catch it so I took the cricket out and decided to try tomorrow so the cricket didnt harm him over night. I just need to know how much these guys need to eat to stay healthy and as far away from death as possible. Also any other care tips that you guys can provide would be great thank you so much! | |

| try every other day or once every 3 days. if you want it to keep eating then just offer the smallest possible cricket that it could eat after every 2 days just so it's appetite is up

| I'd actually only try feeding once a week or so, even at that size.....they have depressingly slow metabolisms. | |

| so since were talking flat rock metabolism, it seems that my gravid h.paucidens has taken a liking to eat superworms while refusing others. would that be safe given her metabolism and the fat content of the sw?

| Yeah, should be fine....also since she's gravid, it may be the reason she's eating them more than anything else, she's not only feeding herself, but giving nutrients to the eggs/1st instars. (Not sure how far your scorp is into gestation.) | |

| Yeah don't worry about it...
Once she does give birth though, after a couple feeding you should try to limit the amount of superworms she eats.

| Two times a week for a young scorpion with a maximum of 2 to 3 crickets is sufficient, if you see it actively scouring the bottom you could try 3 times a week, but limit it then to 2 crickets.
Overfeeding would be like, everyday... stuffing your animal just to get it to grow, this is called "power feeding" and it is barbaric.
It is correct to remove the cricket when the scorp does not take it. My Cavimanus whom I just have 2 weeks today, hasn't taken a bit of food this week. I think she took some crickets last week but haven't seen any signs it did.
Don't worry you are doing a great job!
