update suggestions

There's some things I've been wanting to get done on here including options for different color schemes, getting rid of the chatbox, and getting our own domain name. But I want to take any and all suggestions to improve the forum. What would you guys like to see or done differently?

Options for a different colour scheme would be good.

What about a species photo directory? A section for pictures only of different scorpion species. It can be moderated to keep the species in alphabetical order/within genera/families etc. An example can be seen here http://www.captivebredreptileforums.co.uk/snake-species/

Everyone loves looking at pictures of scorpions, it could serve as a useful tool for ID'ing scorpions and it may draw more people to the site when they're searching for pics of a particular species (something I do a lot. I love it when one of my own pics from here crops up on google images ).

And keeping threads like this coming so that all members have a chance to input into the running of the forum.

The idea of a scorpion data base would be great. Anthony Thillien has done this with his website Scorpion World which is in French. I cannot count how many times his data base has helped me ID some obscure scorpions. I am sure most of us would be happy to supply pictures for the data base. Scorpion World uses the scorpion Family to make it easier to browse.

is the forum open publicly? by that i mean viewable without the need to register or login? i think we should limit the amount of info viewable by the
public so we can get more registered users as well as lessening info from being copied to other sites/forums.

There are some parts of the forum that aren't visible to the public, but most are.


This topic actually came up before, and I doubt opinion is going to change any time soon. Basically there are some people who simply would rather read the information that is posted, and not have to sign up. Also, people may want to assess the credibility of the forum before they join.

I would love to have more active memebers but I wouldnt want to force it on people. I think the information here should be free for all without any commitment.

I agree with Abyss, before I got mine I did a lot of research on this forum and decided to join a week after I got them, in case any of you guys could answer my questions. So that's my input, leave the forum viewable to the public.

Keep these suggestions coming guys. We're slowly but surely improving the forum.
