Hi everybody! I have had three adult Emperors for almost a year now, sharing the same large enclosure.

On 4/4/14 we woke up to find the babies, which my fiance and I couldn't be happier about except for one thing - we are getting married and leaving for Europe on Monday, 4/14/14 for two weeks. I almost wish they had been born RIGHT before we left, then maybe they would just be dropping off her back when we returned.

So here's my concern. The babies could be eaten by the others (i could pull the other two adults out for the time being.) But more importantly, if mom isn't well fed, we risk HER eating them. I had been keeping them all well fed, knowing they would be fine for two weeks without food (water replenishes automatically) but now with the babies, I can't risk mom fasting for two weeks.

The only solution I can think of is to find someone to feed mom regularly while we are gone. I have found someone, but not local. I need to bring her to them. I have a tank set up for her and the babies (then just the babies once they come off). I DO NOT know how to move her, and worry that relocating her will cause stress and lead to cannibalism even if conditions are right. I have even gone to measures to match temp and humidity levels exactly, but still fear moving her from one tank to another.

Maybe someone will have some insight, as I can't find a perfect solution. Every option has it's risk.

Your problem is non existent. Emps can go without food for months so 2 weeks is a drop in the ocean. Remove the 2 remaining emps to a temp enclosure, have a great time on your honeymoon and you will in all likelihood find mother emp and young in perfect condition when you come back.....2 weeks without the background presence of humans will no doubt be as much a holiday for them as it will for you.

For a more nuanced answer try reading any one of the millions of forum posts spread over every scorpion forum on the planet covering this specie of scorpion where people ask feeding questions based on worries similar to your own.

@Mods .. Can we not keep these emps posts to their own "Emperor Zone" sub forum or at the least keep the Breeding Reports free from trivial non breed report random questions!

Thanks for the insight, i really appreciate it. Glad to hear your confidence in her not sizing them up for a meal after two weeks. I had read mostly otherwise. Sorry about the location of my post, i truly thought this was the place. Will do better next time.

I see why you posted this here strat30000, but I'll move it to a more appropriate section.
