sand stuck to stinger bulb Empty
PostSubject: sand stuck to stinger bulb   sand stuck to stinger bulb Empty1/7/2013, 9:05 pm

my dune scorpion has blue sand stuck to the end of his tail

and on his stinger bulb

but its not on the point of his stinger so he can still sting crickets

should i try to get the sand off or leave it alone

i dont know if its going to interfier with an upcoming molt.

but the scorpion is really fast, like super fast, were talking like 100 mph fast, i dont know how i would go about taking the sand off

i think im just going to leave it alone

A few of my scorps sometimes have sand stuck to their stinger area. The scorp's anus is there and I think sand sticks to the poo. I don't think it is a problem.

I wouldn't worry but if you want you could consider using a clean paint brush and sweeping the sand away.

I know this is an old topic but for the point of records. I had an empire scorpion with the same issue and it ended up killing him. I never removed it and it slowly began to imbed itself and eventually causing infection and death. If anyone has this happen I would use a super soft bristled brush slightly damp and brush the sand off until clean then allow to dry out of the sand if possible. Just my experience with it I hope it helps and maybe saves a critter or two RIP

Interesting info. If bedding was stuck to the end of an emperor and Asian forest scorp or other tropical scorp one could wash it off with water. The brush sounds like a good idea for desert scorps.

Has anyone else had problems leaving sand or other substrate stuck to the anus of a scorp?
