| A big reason I joined this forum was to get some advice for this particular question. I am currently living in California with my one scorpion. In the next year or so (possibly as soon as this summer) I am moving across the country to New York. The thing is, I really want to bring my scorpion with me. Unfortunately, it's against the law to transport ANY arachnids via UPS (even though they're willing to ship live lizards and such! >:I ). I also doubt there is a single airline that transports live animals that aren't cats or dogs.
I really don't want to spend too much either...I can't leave my scorpion here because my mom will most likely neglect him. My only option is possibly finding a home for him (which isn't what I want, I want to keep him...) OR finding someone to make a big roadtrip with him, however this is possibly a bad idea since it would be a long drive and I'm not sure how he'd get the sufficient heat and stay relaxed...
I need any and all recommendations and ideas you guys have. Thank you!

| For UPS and FedEx, it's against company policy, not against the law. USPS is a different matter, however, since they're the Federal Government. All the arachnids I've purchased on-line were shipped via FedEx. | |

| Mine's worse, I would want to bring my scorps or at least sell some in the Philippines (emps). I doubt they would allow animals during flight, too. | |

The only live animals I've ever ordered were ants I think, maybe stick insects and caterpillars too. I wish I paid attention to who was sending them. I'll look into it further. How are they packaged so they don't get injured and can still breathe? Just in case I need to do a shipping thing.

| Do you think he'd handle a roadtrip? In the off chance that I could get my dad to drive me and my scorp and some of my stuff there...Think he'd handle being in a car for about 5 days? Would the vibrations stress him out too much?

| Freeze your scorpion up so that it'll go back to life after you arrive at your destination. In the US, cryonics cannot legally be performed on someone until someone is pronounced legally dead. | |

| Here's a (rather long) tutorial on how to pack a tarantula for shipment:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3cKX6y1NhI
Scorpions are not as fragile as tarantulas, but they can be packed in a similar fashion. Adjust the size of the container as appropriate: vials, film canisters, etc. for small scorps; deli containers for larger scorps. Desert species should be packed with dry paper towels; forest species with slightly moist paper towels. Commercial vendors often use small Styrofoam ice chests that fig snugly in cardboard boxes. You can probably buy these on-line, but I haven't checked. 40 hour and 60 hour heat packs can be purchased from Ebay or at camping/sporting goods stores like REI, Bass Pro Shop and Cabelas.

| I also wonder how I will bring ALL of my inverts from here in Oregon to wherever I move, possibly Texas or S. Oregon. I thought of renting a UHAUL van to bring them in their own enclosures to my new home. You can also ship through USPS, it is not against the rules to ship arachnids with them. | |

| I have no experience in this area but the online invert dealers usually recommend overnight delivery to ensure they arrive safe. You might check some out to see how they do it. | |
