| That's a nice scorpion you have there! I don't know all too much about figuring out the age of a scorpion, but I believe that it is pretty young based on the color of its telson. | |

| Nice pics, but is that woodchips what you are using for substrate? It´s really not suitable for emps. I recommend you switch it to coco fiber. | |

+1 It is ideal to provide them with the option to burrow. 4-6 inch substrate depth nicely packed down is recommended. | |

| Hmm...the Invert shop I was at recommended the cedar chips specifically. I try to provide him with plenty of hides and cover. Thanks for the heads up. | |

| Cedar is toxic to most invertebrates, so get your scorp off that substrate ASAP. Most pet-store owners have no idea how to care for scorpions. | |

| After checking, I misspoke. The substrate he's in is Cypress Mulch. Not Cedar. I had the bag hiding somewhere. It was recommended by the invert store clerk specifically, but I got the name wrong. | |

| Okay. Some people do use cypress mulch in their tanks, but it does not allow for burrowing. You could put a thin layer of it on top of the main substrate (which should be 4-6 inches of either peat or coco fiber) to make the enclosure look more natural.

| My votes for 5-6 inches of moist coco fiber Not saying anyone is right or wrong, but trust the people on the site dedicated to them Ill save you a lot of trouble in the long run ; dont listen to everything a pet store worker says. | |
